I can't see my recording toolbar

1 min read

The VidPal recording toolbar gives you controls for pausing, stopping, drawing, and annotating during a recording. If it's disappeared, here's how to get it back.

Check if the toolbar is hidden

You may have accidentally hidden the toolbar. In the VidPal popup, open the settings menu and check whether "Hide toolbar" is enabled — if it is, toggle it off. You can also press Alt+Shift+T (or Option+Shift+T on Mac) to quickly toggle the toolbar visibility during a recording.

The toolbar may be behind the popup

The recording toolbar can sometimes end up hidden behind the VidPal popup itself. Try moving the popup out of the way by dragging the handle on the popup's header area. The toolbar may be sitting right underneath it.

The toolbar may be off-screen

If you resized your browser window or changed display settings, the toolbar might have moved off-screen. Try resizing or maximizing your browser window — this often causes the toolbar to snap back into view. You can also reposition the toolbar by dragging its handle once it's visible.

Refresh the page

If the toolbar still doesn't appear, try refreshing the page where you're recording. The toolbar should reappear after the page reloads. Note: this will stop any active recording, so make sure your current recording is saved first.

Reinstall the extension

As a last resort, remove and reinstall the VidPal extension from the Chrome Web Store. This resets all settings and should restore the toolbar to its default position and visibility.
