VidPal doesn't work on certain websites

1 min read

Chrome extensions cannot run on every website. If VidPal's popup doesn't appear or recording fails on a specific site, there's likely a browser restriction in place.

Chrome internal pages

Extensions are blocked from running on Chrome's built-in pages. This includes any URL starting with chrome:// (like chrome://settings or chrome://extensions), the Chrome Web Store (chrome.google.com/webstore), and the New Tab page.

When you click the VidPal icon on these pages, it will automatically open a new tab where the extension can run. Alternatively, use "Full Screen" recording mode which captures your entire display and works regardless of what's on screen.

Other restricted websites

Some corporate or government websites use Content Security Policy (CSP) headers that block extensions from injecting content. If VidPal's popup appears but the toolbar or camera overlay doesn't show during recording, this is likely the cause.

The workaround is the same: switch to Full Screen recording mode, which doesn't require injecting content into the page.

Bank and payment sites

For security reasons, some banking and payment sites may block all extensions. This is a protective measure and cannot be overridden. Use Full Screen mode if you need to record these pages.

PDF viewer

Chrome's built-in PDF viewer may also block extensions. If you need to record while viewing a PDF, try opening the PDF in a different viewer or using Full Screen recording mode.
