If your recording didn't download or you closed the tab before saving, VidPal may still have a backup stored temporarily. Here's how to recover it.
Check VidPal's restore feature
Open the VidPal extension popup and hover over it to reveal the controls in the top-right corner. Click the three-dot menu button and look for the "Restore last recording" option.
If a recent recording is available for recovery, this option will be clickable. Click it and a new tab will open with your recovered video, which you can then download or edit. If the button appears disabled or greyed out, unfortunately the recording can no longer be recovered.
Check your Downloads folder
Sometimes recordings download successfully but to an unexpected location. Check your browser's default downloads folder. On most systems, this is the "Downloads" folder in your home directory.
You can find Chrome's download location at chrome://settings/downloads.
Check if backup was enabled
If you had the "Backups" option enabled in VidPal's settings menu before recording, your video may have been saved to a backup tab. Check if there's a VidPal backup tab open in Chrome.
Prevention tips
Always wait for the download prompt to appear after stopping a recording before closing the tab. Remember that VidPal stores recordings locally in your browser — they are not automatically saved to the cloud unless you have a Pro subscription with cloud recording enabled.
For long or important recording sessions, consider enabling the backup feature in VidPal's settings menu, or use cloud recording (Pro) for automatic saving.
